I've loved interior design since I was eight years old, and I spent almost all of my teenage years wanting to pursue it as a career. Even though writing entered the mix and caused me to pivot, I still have an immense appreciation for beautiful spaces, including this year's just-launched REAL SIMPLE Home in Brooklyn, NY. I've had so much fun poring over every detail that this incredible crew of architects, developers, and designers carefully curated. The home features 12 beautifully designed spaces, including a guest suite spearheaded by HGTV host Jasmine Roth. I'm a big fan of Roth's comfortable-yet-sophisticated California aesthetic, so I can't say I'm surprised that her work stood out to me. The room's show-stopping piece is this queen-size four-poster Yttervåg bed frame, which I never would've guessed is from Ikea since it looks far more luxurious than its $669 price tag. Roth chose to adorn the bed with items from editor- and shopper-loved brand Quince, including this European Linen Stripe Duvet Cover, Organic Airy Gauze Quilt, European Linen Sheet Set, and European Linen Stripe Sham Set. Floral block print pillows from a North Carolina Etsy shop, a textured Studio McGee box from Target that can easily double as a jewelry holder, and the Bay Laurel art print in "Iced Tea" from Minted (my personal pick for affordable art) round out the room's decor. |
