Cozy Recipes You Can Make From Pantry Staples

Dear Real Simple Reader,

When the snow outside doesn't show any signs of melting, there's only one thing to do—warm yourself with a cozy homemade meal. And because we know the last thing you want to do is change out of your pajamas, we rounded up recipes you likely already have the ingredients for.

You'll be happily surprised when you learn how far you can stretch a carton of eggs, a bag of potatoes, or a quart of chicken stock. Don't forget there are goodies in your freezer, too. Frozen sausage, when defrosted and tossed with cheese and panko bread crumbs, becomes the star of simple stuffed onions . Frozen blueberries shine in a tender loaf cake made with a few baking staples and a container of plain yogurt. The list goes on.

Even if your pantry is lacking a particular ingredient, don't get discouraged. Opt for thyme instead of rosemary, pears in place of apples, or ground beef instead of ground turkey. Half the fun is seeing what you can create with what you have on hand—and we have full confidence it will be a hit. Happy cooking, and stay warm.
