Even though summer hasn't "officially" begun, hot weather most certainly has. Whether you naturally sleep hot or just don't like having the AC on full blast, there are plenty of products you can buy to keep your bedroom cool and comfortable while you sleep. We've tested hundreds of such products, including bedding, fans, and more, so we have some strong opinions on what's worth buying. For starters, make sure you have a lightweight sheet set made from naturally breathable materials. We recommend Sijo's CrispCool Cotton Sheet Set, which is made of crisp cotton with a percale weave. (FYI: Percale sheets have a lower thread count and more open weave that doesn't trap air close to your body.) These sheets impressed us with their long-term durability and excellent moisture-wicking abilities, which moves sweat off of your skin, making you feel cooler. Next, think about what else is on your bed—after all, your sheets can't do all the work! A cooling comforter or blanket is essential if you want to prevent any overheating. We particularly love the Rest Evercool Cooling Comforter, which feels cool to the touch thanks to its almost slick texture. In fact, we nicknamed it "The Cucumber" during testing. It feels a bit different from other comforters, but you won't notice it if you use a cooling duvet cover. You'll also want a pillow that allows for proper airflow, like one designed with shredded, gel-infused memory foam versus solid foam. Our favorite in this category is the Coop Sleep Goods Eden Pillow, which also allows you to adjust the fill to your specific needs. Finally, don't forget to set up your environment for success. A reliable tower fan is a great addition to a warm bedroom, and can even provide some nice white noise while you sleep. The Dreo Nomad One Tower Fan blows the competition out of the water with its powerful yet not distractingly loud airflow. It has four speed settings, four modes, and an 8-hour timer, plus has a sleek (and bladeless!) design. |
